Greatness Has Arrived In The Form Of The New PlayStation 4 Launch.

With the new highly anticipated arrival of Sony's PlayStation 4 (whose formal launch is less than 24 hours away), gamers everywhere are drooling as they await the PlayStation 4: Launch Edition new sleek console and slew of games.

Today's Event:
As part of the PS4 launch, the Standard High Line in NY has been taken over by PlayStation beginning this morning at 9am, where they lit up the hotel with PS4 game images and icons and are offering some for purchase, demos and more.

The Fabulous Launch Commercial:

A follow-up to the widely popular PlayStation 4 trailer from last June, this wonderful PS4 commercial by BBH New York coincides with the launch of Sony's "Greatness Awaits" website.

In this one minute ad, two young men role-play battle via scenes from the Elder Scrolls Online, Driveclub and Killzone: Shadow Fall, all to the tune of Lou Reed's "Perfect Day."

The song is a wonderful juxtaposition to the battle scenes, and serves as a nice tribute to the recently deceased music legend (full credits at the end of this post).

The Greatness Exchange:

The Greatness Exchange allows players a shot at winning items used in the latest PlayStation commercials amongst other thing:

First there was Bid For Greatness, rewarding the greatest gamers around. But what about everyone else? All you need is one gold trophy to take your shot. Winners randomly selected and verified. Trophies are not lost from your PSN profile.
Introducing Greatness Exchange.

Made From Cool. Christopher Walken Turns Tailor In This New TV and Print Campaign for Fashion Brand Jack & Jones.

British GQ reports that "Premium by Jack & Jones - the denim brand's preppy, tailoring-based offshoot - has unveiled none other than Christopher Walken as the face of its new autumn/winter campaign. Dubbed "Made From Cool" the brand produced a series of five short films directed by Martin Werner with the Oscar-winning actor playing a super-powered tailor, cutting patterns and shearing sheep with his bare hands, while providing the voice-over in that unmistakable drawl."

Unfortunately, the youtube films are not legally allowed to play in the US, but I was able to find all five uploaded from various countries on youtube, which may be removed by the time you read this (but I hope not). Here they are:

The fabulous music on the last film shown above is a collaboration between music stylist Jesper Gadeberg and Soundtree featuring Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds off their latest album, Push the Sky Away. The track is called We Real Cool. “Who took your measurements from your toes to the top of your head?” Cave croons as the 70-year-old actor, playing the role of a super-tailor, cuts fabric, shapes suits, and attaches buttons with his bare fingers in a dark New York City loft space.

In another one of the ads, this one showing off the brand’s premium sweaters, Walken knits at lightning speed while staring off the camera with inimitable resolve, before cutting the final thread with a scissor-like snap of his fingers.

Reportedly, Christopher Walken made an exception to his no-campaigns rule, because he liked the role and how it was especially made for him. “Christopher Walken is our favourite style icon and a great source of inspiration. The campaign is custom-made for him. He represents style rather than fashion, and his acting performances are first class craft – just as our brand”, Winnie Andersen, the head designer of PREMIUM, says in a press release.

Besides the five films, whose primary target is the online media, the “Made From Cool” ad campaign also includes print ads (shown below) beautifully shot by Danish photographer Søren Solkær Starbird who is known for his photos of musicians and artists.

Jeff Koons' Cover For Lady Gaga's Album ARTPOP Is Unveiled Via Social Media & Outdoor.

Available November 11, ARTPOP is Gaga’s fourth studio album with an album cover by legendary artist Jeff Koons. “Having Jeff create something for ARTPOP was a dream come true, and a very emotional experience. He has given me the greatest gift and we are excited to be sharing it with you,” said Lady Gaga.

Using social media to her promotional advantage (as always), the cover artwork for her new album, ARTPOP , was revealed for the first time, in a piece by piece unveiling on Clear Channel Outdoor digital billboards and screens in 18 major cities across the globe on Monday of this week (October 7th). And starting at 1pm ET that day, the cover was also revealed in sections over 30 minutes via Lady Gaga's Twitter account, unlocked by tweets using #iHeartARTPOP

According to a post on her Facebook page, the Koons sculpture of her that is the center image of the musical artist's new album cover will be exhibited the day before the album's release as part of what  is being calling artRAVE. The event will also feature new works by Jeff Koons, Marina Abramovic, Robert Wilson and directors/photographers Inez & Vinoodh to show that the artist is at the heart of society, “in control of the icon”.

The ARTPOP app

Lady Gaga reports on littlemonsters.com: "I'm excited to tell you all that ARTPOP is going to be a multimedia experience that comes in different forms. The most major way to fully immerse yourself in ARTPOP is through the APP. ARTPOP will be released as an IPAD, iPhone, mobile and computer compatible application (WORLD) that is completely interactive with chats, films for every song, extra music, content, gaga inspired games, fashion updates, magazines, and more still in the works! I will also be able to upload new things to the APP all the time, the same way i upload to twitter and LM.com. You inspired me to create something that communicated with images, because YOU do, YOU communicate with me and each other with .gifs and pictures, and artwork, graphics ALL DAY 24/7/ YOU'RE an ARTPOP generation. Im hoping you will all continue to grow together and stay connected through your creativity. much love. --love, gaga"

The video for Applause, the first single release off the upcoming album, was shot by Inez and Vinoodh and references Venus' Boticelli as does the new album cover by Koons:

According to soletron, ArtPop's downloadable app designed by Gaga’s devout technology team, TechHAUS and portrays the “rush” of fame via virtual simulation. Lady Gaga’s personal creative team, The HAUS of GAGA  planned the “Art Rave” event that will tae place the day before the album's November 11 release.

Miley Mocks Herself (And The Government). See The Whole Funny SNL Music Video.

In case you missed it - whether on purpose or by accident, Miley Cyrus' hosting gig on SNL certainly had its moments, the best of which was when Miley and the cast parodied her own song, "We Can't Stop" by giving it a political twist.

Cyrus dressed as Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann with Taran Killam as House Speaker John Boehner suggestively danced and vamped to the new lyrics, which presented a raunchy Republican celebration of the government shutdown.

The full video:

"Cause we came to shut it all down now, no government around now, if you're not ready for healthcare, can I get a 'hell no,'" Cyrus sang while dressed as Bachmann, spanking Uncle Sam, licking Killam as Boehner, and holding and licking an Abraham Lincoln doll. "Government workers on a furlough, even though you're already paid low ... everyone in line for early child care, anyone who planned to see a grizzly bear, we are so shut down yeah."

Some of the best moments:

UPDATED: Miley Cyrus: Overexposed or Marketing Genius? Terry Richardson Captures More of Miley's Tongue and Then Some (ALL the pics).

Haven't yet got enough of Miley's tongue or her twat-touching? Photographer Terry Richardson's latest images of the overexposed Miley Cyrus were shot in New York just these past two days, October 3rd and 4th where she's in town for her live hosting of tonight's SNL.
