Kevin Bacon Recreates Footloose Entrance on Tonight Show 30 Years Later

Footloose kevin 30 years later hero IIHIHFootloose kevin 30 years later 2 IIHIH

This is epic. The fabulous Kevin Bacon recreates, step by step, his 'Footloose' entrance on NBC's The Tonight Show after Jimmy proclaims that dancing has been outlawed by NBC. In addition to sharing the 3 and a half minute video with you, I simply had to make some screen grabs so you can see the details, because the whole thing is so hilariously done.

Footloose dancing outlawed IIHIH

Beginning in the dressing room Kevin hears the news, exclaims "Jump back", immediately pops a cassette into the wall (nice throwback), his feet start to move, he takes a drag on a cigarette, swigs a beer and begins to dance his way down the corridor to the show's entrance stage.

Even the interior barn gymnastics scene is recreated (undoubtedly with a stunt man).

NBS staffers then join in the fun as he dons a burgundy tux and they all dance their way onstage.

The cult classic movie Footloose is celebrating 30 years since its release.
Just another reason to love Kevin Bacon.

All 5 Of The Brian Williams Rap Mash-Ups Including The Epic Rapper's Delight.

I posted this on Faceboook a few minutes after it aired Wednesday night because I was so impressed with it. Apparently, I'm not alone -  it was the number one trending item on Facebook all day Thursday. So, for those of you who have not been watching Jimmy Fallon's first week as host of The Tonight show, I will share it with you.

You may not know that this was not the first mash-up with NBC Nightly News managing editor and anchor Brian Williams edited to appear as though he were rapping. Although the previous versions were not as seamlessly done nor were they nearly as funny. The Brian Williams Gangster Rapper feature became somewhat of a running gag on Jimmy's Late Show with versions to Warrne G, Marky Mark and The Funky Bunch, N.W.A. and Snoop Dogg.

Aired feb 14, 2013
NBC Nightly News managing editor and anchor Brian Williams raps The Sugar Hill Gang's classic "Rapper's Delight" -- and, yes, he brought two friends along:

Prior to this epic one, there were these four - albeit not quite as well done.

The first one aired on June 5th, 2013:
Brian Williams Rapping Snoop Dogg's verse from the classic Dr. Dre song "Nuthin' but a 'G' Thang.":

Followed by this one on June 6th, 3013:
Brian Williams Raps Warren G's "Regulate"

The third one aired on June 7th, 2013:
Brian Williams Raps N.W.A's "Straight Outta Compton":

and then on Jul 29, 2013 was this one:
Brian Williams Raps Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch's hit "Good Vibrations.":

Perhaps now that Jimmy Fallon is hosting The Tonight Show, more eyeballs are seeing them. But he has many more tricks up sleeve and I'm looking forward to them.

Owen Wilson in The Killers' Christmas In LA , a 5 Minute Melancholy Mixed Media Music Video.

The Killers have shared their latest charity Christmas single, Christmas In L.A., whose proceeds will benefit the Global Fund to Fight AIDS. This is the eighth year that the Killers have partnered with (RED), the AIDS awareness organization founded by Bono and Bobby Shriver, to produce a Christmas single.

Directed by Kelly Loosli (who is the program director of BYU's animation program) , the mixed media five minute and 12 second music video casts Owen Wilson as a melancholy out of work actor who is dreading December 25th in Los Angeles. I'm not sure if this is odd or perfect casting given Wilson's suicide attempt in 2007 , which everyone seems to have forgotten. The lonesome video also features actor Harry Dean Stanton (below with Wilson) and animation by Loosli's students at Brigham Young University.

Watch the video below, and head over to iTunes to purchase "Christmas in L.A.," which features supporting vocals from Dawes.

All The Channels On That Cool Interactive Bob Dylan Like A Rolling Stone Video (and How It Was Done)

If you follow tech, music and media news, you've probably already heard about, if not seen, the engaging interactive music video for Bob Dylan's classic "Like A Rolling Stone."

Created by Interlude (along with Sony Legacy/Columbia who produced the Bob Dylan: The Complete Album Collection V.1), the music video for Bob Dylan's classic "Like A Rolling Stone" consists of various tv shows on multiple channels in which the hosts, stars or participants are mouthing the lyrics.

above: the brand new Complete Album Collection of Bob Dylan was released on Nov. 4, 2013

So what, you say? Lip-syncing is nothing new. But in this case, YOU control the channels. And there seem to be so many! So how did they get all the folks on those tv channels, in game shows, sports and movies to simulate singing the song?

Actual shows in the video:

There are seven 'real' shows: The Price Is Right, History Channel's Pawn Stars, HGTV's Property Brothers, podcast Maron (WTF), MTV's Girl Code, YouTube channel Look TV and sports channel ESPN. For these, especially filmed clips in which the actual hosts participated were executed.

The rest are fake (although many contain cameos by real entertainment personalities) and were created to simulate popular shows and channels on national and cable stations.

Some of the faux shows in the video:

All The Available Channels in the Interactive Bob Dylan Video:

• Music 1 Classics (a spoof on VH-1)
• Music 1 BASS (a faux music show featuring real rapper Danny Brown)
• Shop TV (a spoof on HSN, the Home Shopping Network)
• History Network (a parody of The History Channel)
• Love Is Love (a made up Rom-Com)
• Bachelor's Rose (a spoof on ABC's The Bachelor)
• MTC- Financial News (a fake financial show)
• Cooking Show/ Cuisine (a faux cooking show)
• Pawn Stars (a real show on the History Channel)
• Look TV (a real youtube channel)
• Girl Code (a real show on MTV)
• The Price Is Right (a real game show, duh)
• Maron (WTF) (a real podcast with Marc Maron)
• Tennis Match (a simulated tennis match)
• Property Brothers (a real show on HGTV)
• Zoey and Socks (a phony animated children's show)
• BCC News (a spoof on CNN News)
• ESPN (the real sports show with Steve Levy)

The video itself was created with Interlude's own self-service HTML5 web app, Treehouse:

A lot of people put time and effort into this very cool production and below are ALL the credits for each channel and cameo appearance.

"The Developer", A Beautiful Samsung Gear Spot Celebrates A Real Project by The Messi Foundation.

More and more, traditional :30 and :60 second spots from large marketers are paling in comparison to their branded content that they are calling "short films" - if you can call a two minute digital video a short film. The latest is this beautifully produced musically-inspired spot for Samsung (who also recently released "Dreams," a 2:57 minute digital short for the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, that was cut down to a minute long tv commercial for air, and is shown at the end of this post).

Told from a child's perspective, "The Developer" is a musical short film by Samsung featuring world-renowned footballer and Unicef Goodwill Ambassador, Lionel (Leo) Messi, and the hit single "Royals" by hot New Zealand Pop Star Lorde.

above photo of Lorde by Simeon Patience.

The beautiful 2 minute branded content was created by Leo Burnett, Chicago and is a dramatic retelling of an actual project completed by the Leo Messi Foundation. Directed by Adam Hashemi the film has wardrobe designed by Paco Delgado, who was the costume designer for the film version of Les Misérables.

In case you didn't understand what's happening in the spot (and I'm not trying to be pedantic here), a mysterious stranger arrives in a low income neighborhood and captures the imaginations of the children who live there. He is "The Developer" and the children view him with a deep suspicion.

Together with his Samsung GALAXY Note 3 and GALAXY Gear, The Developer effortlessly masterminds a secret construction project. Using the latest in Samsung technology including Action Memo, Pen Window, Scrapbook and hands-free call capability on the Gear, The Developer orchestrates and executes his mysterious mission.

The children watch in awe. They reflect on their current situation by singing New Zealand Pop star Lorde's breakout hit "Royals," a song about overcoming her own humble beginnings.

The spot concludes with a beautiful new pitch that has been constructed in the toughest part of town. The Developer is revealed to be the world's reigning football star, Lionel Messi, fulfilling his personal mission* to help under privileged children.

The events in this story are a dramatic retelling of actual projects completed by the Leo Messi Foundation.

Miley Mocks Herself (And The Government). See The Whole Funny SNL Music Video.

In case you missed it - whether on purpose or by accident, Miley Cyrus' hosting gig on SNL certainly had its moments, the best of which was when Miley and the cast parodied her own song, "We Can't Stop" by giving it a political twist.

Cyrus dressed as Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann with Taran Killam as House Speaker John Boehner suggestively danced and vamped to the new lyrics, which presented a raunchy Republican celebration of the government shutdown.

The full video:

"Cause we came to shut it all down now, no government around now, if you're not ready for healthcare, can I get a 'hell no,'" Cyrus sang while dressed as Bachmann, spanking Uncle Sam, licking Killam as Boehner, and holding and licking an Abraham Lincoln doll. "Government workers on a furlough, even though you're already paid low ... everyone in line for early child care, anyone who planned to see a grizzly bear, we are so shut down yeah."

Some of the best moments:

Miley licks an Abraham Lincoln doll at one point:

Ellie Konig and Quang Dinh Know How To Do A Wedding Video. Take Note, Soon-To-Be-Marrieds.

above: Quang and Ellie captured in their on-site reception photo booth, one of over 800 pictures by which they now have to remember the special occasion (courtesy of Quang Dinh's facebook page)

Like most newlyweds, the lovely Ellie Koning and handsome Quang Dinh wanted to capture the afterparty of their Aug. 11th nuptials on video. Unlike most couples, they used small Seattle-based production company Super Frog Saves Tokyo to do the job. (On the company's official facebook page, the folks at SFST they say they made this video for their "boss.")

The video was shot at the reception site Sodo Park in Seattle Washington in a photo booth, a now popular trend at weddings. The result is a recorded total of 4 minutes and 27 seconds of sweet jubilation unlike most painfully tacky wedding videos.

above: one of the photobooth still images from their wedding

It's been featured on MSN, Glamour.com, Jezebel and more and is rapidly turning Ellie and Quang into social media stars.

above: a still from the video

Shot at super high speed on the RED Epic camera, this 160 frame per second video unfolds in slow motion to Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines,” and captures the guests with simple wedding favor props like confetti, bubbles, poppers and silly string in a photo booth.

The joyful and ebullient energy conveyed is so much better and more touching than drunken statements made to camera or master shots of a dark room full of spastic dancers.

Congratulation to the happy couple, shown below in a more subdued and romantic photo from their wedding (photo courtesy of Ellie's facebook page):

Just like Kylie, the blonder than blonde doll is clad from head to toe in gold. Chain details adorn her golden corset and and inspires her long earrings, golden armbands and even the same ring as worn by Kylie in the video. Gold eyeliner and false eyelashes complete the look.

Unlike Kylie, the barbie doll does come with a mesh woven gold cape and a stand inspired by bars of bullion.
