A Giant Floating Skate Ramp In Lake Tahoe For Bob Burnquist.
Pro-skater Bob Burnquist has skated on almost every surface imaginable. Now he can add the surface of the water to that list. As part of California's Dream 365 Project, a collection of inspiring videos, photos, memes, tweets and more designed to increase tourism to California, Burnquist proves he can Dream Big and builds a large floating skate ramp in the waters of gorgeous Lake Tahoe.
Behind the Scenes
Once upon a time we came upon a photo of a floating skate ramp. We thought it was a totally cool idea, but when we did a little research, we discovered the image was a fake—someone’s Photoshopped fantasy. Bummer, we thought—but then we got inspired. “Let’s build our own,” we cried, “and let’s have pro skater Bob Burnquist skate on it—in Lake Tahoe!” Somehow our crazy idea seemed just fine to Bob, who had his own designers join us for four days to build this ramp “floating” above Lake Tahoe. Brazilian-born Bob loved the ramp so much he wants one just like it built at his waterfront home in his home country (only because his San Diego spread—where he has his own super-pipe—doesn’t have any waterfront). Cool fact: For our shoot, a wet-suited snorkeler was at the ready to dive for Bob’s skateboard every time it went over the edge and into the big blue.

Anderson, Kubrick and Tarantino's Directing Styles As Seen by Kogonada.
Kogonada is a filmmaker and regular contributor to Sight & Sound. His projects have been featured on NPR, The Atlantic, Canal+ and Der Spiegel, and have screened internationally. He was born in Seoul, Korea.
His videos posted on Vimeo are almost always “Staff Picks’ and that’s because they are both informative and entertaining for film buffs as well as the general public.
I’m sharing with you three of his projects that are visual compilations from the work of directors Wes Anderson, Stanley Kubrick and Quentin Tarantino. Each focuses on a central stylistic component of their directing. Wes Anderson’s beautiful symmetry, Stanley Kubrick’s one point perspective and Tarantino’s worm’s eye view.

Kevin Bacon Recreates Footloose Entrance on Tonight Show 30 Years Later
This is epic. The fabulous Kevin Bacon recreates, step by step, his 'Footloose' entrance on NBC's The Tonight Show after Jimmy proclaims that dancing has been outlawed by NBC. In addition to sharing the 3 and a half minute video with you, I simply had to make some screen grabs so you can see the details, because the whole thing is so hilariously done.
Beginning in the dressing room Kevin hears the news, exclaims "Jump back", immediately pops a cassette into the wall (nice throwback), his feet start to move, he takes a drag on a cigarette, swigs a beer and begins to dance his way down the corridor to the show's entrance stage.
Even the interior barn gymnastics scene is recreated (undoubtedly with a stunt man).
NBS staffers then join in the fun as he dons a burgundy tux and they all dance their way onstage.
Enjoy:
The cult classic movie Footloose is celebrating 30 years since its release.
Just another reason to love Kevin Bacon.
Must-See TRUE DETECTIVE Facts, Photos, Quotes, Art, Parodies and Links.
Tonight airs the 8th episode and season finale of HBO's True Detective. An addictive new series that premiered January 12, 2014 starring Matthew McConaughey (as Rustin Cohle) and Woody Harrelson (as Marty Hart) that has caught on like wildfire and spurred numerous online discussions, fan sites, theories and of course, satire.
Great acting coupled with intense writing that contains enigmatic acronyms, intellectual theories, philosophical monologues and cryptic references make the show simultaneously compelling and yes, totally friggen' confusing. So I've gathered facts, glossaries, photos, artwork, sites and videos, both hopeful and humorous, for you True Detective fans to enjoy as the season comes to an end.
First off, if you know nothing about the show, here is it as described by HBO:
Opening Titles and Music
The True Detective opening title sequence (shown below) is accompanied by The Handsome Family's "Far From Any Road".
LYRICS:
From the dusty May sun
Her looming shadow grows
Hidden in the branches of the poison creosote
She twines her spines up slowly
Towards the boiling sun
And when i touched her skin
My fingers ran with blood
In the hushing dusk under a swollen silver moon
I came walking with the wind to watch the cactus bloom
And strange hands halted me, the looming shadows danced
I fell down to the thorny brush and felt the trembling hands
When the last light warms the rocks
And the rattlesnakes unfold
Mountain cats will come to drag away your bones
And rise with me forever
Across the silent sand
And the stars will be your eyes
And the wind will be my hands
