The CardSharp, Cutting Edge Design (literally) and Beautiful Packaging.

The CardSharp 2 from Iain Sinclair is a cool little functional utility knife that is beautifully incorporated into its package design.

Just three ingenious folding operations metamorphosize the card into an elegant pocket utility tool.

Measuring the size of a credit card, the lightweight, ultra thin Card Sharp 2 has stainless steel surgical blade that measures just under 3" long and is both waterproof and rust-proof.

Updated features (from the original Card Sharp) include a stiffer, non-slip armor rubber coated body and unique safety lock (cannot accidentally open when in a pocket or drawer and is child proof).

For only £15 GBP ($25 USD), the Card Sharp2 makes a great and handy gift or stocking stuffer, especially with the option to customize the blade (as shown below):

Blood Concept. Four New Unisex Fragrances Based On Blood Types.

Founded in Italy by Giovanni Castelli and Antonio Zuddas (shown below), Blood Concept is a collection of four different fragrances dictated by blood types.

The website says "Filled with legends and meanings, blood is soaked with mystery‚ fascination and respect. it’s the most tested and studied part of human body and it guards a multitude of secrets that reveals our inner and unique way of being.

BLOOD CONCEPT is a private celebration of the vivid and fascinating liquid that flows in our veins. Because blood is actually the river of life.
A, B, AB and 0, retrace the evolution of manhood through time and its record of information, history and mutation, so well kept in the vital flushing of blood.

BLOOD CONCEPT is a mystic ritual with no flowers to be found: deep as primeval Africa in 0‚ aromatic as the scent of familiar land in A, bold as unpredictable itineraries in B, bold and sharp as a metropolitan skyline in AB.
Ending each time with the same subtle and mysterious note: a metallic vague suspicion."

Each of the four unisex scents are described below and available in either a 40ml dropper or 60ml spray. The fabulous individual packaging shown below was designed by 2PFG

Type O:

Visceral and Intense. From the depths of the earth. Carnal and Primitive.
The packaging:

Type A:

The packaging:

Clever and Cool Curling Container for Häagen-Dazs Ice Cream by Cedric Ragot.

To celebrate its 50 year anniversary, Häagen-Dazs ice cream brand invited several artists to imagine exclusive objects celebrating the tasting ritual of a Häagen-Dazs ice cream.

The 28'18" Moment (28 minute, 18 second) designed by Cedric Ragot, is a take off on the ice sport of Curling. The name is a result of the average time it takes to eat an entire pint of Häagen-Dazs, according to Ragot, although I'm pretty sure I could do it in half that time.

The curling tub contains a tub of ice cream, an Ice Twist, a spoon imagined as a "tool of tasting", along with a DVD of the movie, 28 minutes and 18 seconds by Thomas Lélu with music by SomethingALaMode.

In addition to being a design item that was unveiled at the Salon du Design in Milan last April, the Curling is also isotherm, portable and durable. Perfect for summer picnics, its rotational molding design offers all the necessary features to be faithful to Cédric Ragot's first drawing: respect of the handle's oblong shape, no molded screw for a secure closure. The Curling needed 6 months of technical development and two months for the design of the mold.

The unique commemorative package design is available throughout France only in a limited edition of 250 pieces, but you can pre-order it online at Colette.

While researching for this post, I came across this totally fun Curling ice cube tray:

Soup For Sluts & Other Rad Ramen Noodles

The folks over at Blue Q have taken the college student's staple, instant Ramen Noodle Soup, and cleverly repackaged four different flavors with hilarious names. The genuine and yes, authentically edible, instant Asian noodle soups come in the following flavors; Soup For Sluts [spicy vegetable], Wasted & Broke [spicy beef], Hello Lazy [chicken flavored] and Din Din Fuk Chow [shrimp] and cost $2.99 each for each 3oz 85g package. Admittedly a bit more that the .39 cent versions you can find at your local market, but the reaction when someone sees them is worth the $2.60 difference.

Sadly, these are no longer carried by BlueQ.

Doggy Style. Picking Up Poo With Aplomb.

The ultimate gift for cosmopolitan dog lovers. Dog poo bags, designed by jungeschachtel, are the most stylish, hygienic and environmentally friendly way to pick up that stinky stuff your canine leaves behind.

The packaging is beautifully designed - both the box in which the bags are packaged as well as the individual bags:

Each box contains 16 bags, two of each design shown below:

Super easy to use, the bags are 100% biodegradable:

The idea for dog poo bags was born out of their passion for dogs and design. The daily walks with Cuno, the agency's dog (shown in the picture at the top of the post at 3 months old), served as a source of inspiration.

Dog poo bags are sold on designspray or directly from jungeschachtel here.

Coca-Cola Light Gets Dressed By Another Designer, Karl Lagerfeld.

Coca Cola Light continues to honor fashion icons with their latest limited edition bottle designed by and featuring CHANEL's pony-tailed guru of couture, Karl Lagerfeld.

The designer's famous silhouette graces the aluminum bottle which comes in unique limited edition box, accompanied with a bottle-opener discreetly hidden in a drawer. Available now from Colette.

This is not the first fashion designer to create a special version of the famous Coca-Cola Contour bottle for their light soda. Below are several other limited edition bottles by fashion designers for the Coca Cola Light soda from the past few years.

Last year, in Italy, Coca-Cola Light had a Tribute to Fashion to celebrate 100 years of the recognizable contour bottle. Well known Italian designers Alberta Ferretti, Blumarine, Etro, Fendi, Marni, Missoni, Moschino, and Versace each designed the following beautiful limited edition bottles. Sadly, they were only available in Milan, but you can at least see them all here.
