Art Nouveau Clovers by Raphael Kirchner In Honor of St. Patrick's Day.

A little art flashback for you in honor of St. Patrick's Day.

Here's a look at the beautiful series of "A Quattre Feuilles" or "Clovers" created in 1899 by Austrian Art Nouveau artist Raphael Kirchner (1876 - August 2, 1917).

Produced in postcard format, like the majority of his work, these were printed as color lithographs (both green and violet versions were produced) with metallic pigment (the hearts and titles are in gold) on card stock.

Some of the used postcards can be found for auction on Ruby Lane or Ebay.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Chairs, Clothes and Objects Made Entirely Of Paper By Vincent Tomczyk.

the above chair is made entirely from paper

Artist Vincent Tomczyk likes working with paper because, in his own words, "my art requires me to be part craftsman and part engineer." His clothing, chairs and other objects crafted from various types of paper and foamcore are hard to discern from the originals because the likenesses are uncannily realistic.

Below are selections from his Versisimilitudes and Virtu Collections:

above: Vincent Tomczyk, Americana, paper jeans, 2011, paper, canvas, silk and nylon thread, 15 x 9 x 11 in.

above: Vincent Tomczyk, Shirt and Tie, 2010, Mulberry and various other papers, 23 x 30 x 4 in.

Artist's Statement:
My art centers on objects to stimulate visceral connections. These compositions represent biographies of people, experiences and interpretations of intangible ideas. Although my work can be categorized as realism, my intention is to distill the emotion of an object, then through expression, reconstruct it into my view of its essential self - free of function.

As an artist working primarily with paper, my art requires me to be part craftsman and part engineer. I learned a lot about how to construct things by working at my father’s side, in his workshop. I’m compelled to produce work that is visually poetic by using a medium that defies perceived limitations.

I am currently working on a series of paper chairs. I am interested in how personal chairs can become over time - almost taking on the characteristics of their owners. Chairs provide a sense of dignity - from hand carved stools in Africa, to thrones in Europe. Conversely, chairs are ubiquitously a part of our public and social lives, bringing humanity together in small groups or en masse. - Vincent

Wine In A Handbag. French Wines In Chic Packaging. What A Great Idea.

Wine in a box is so tacky, despite the improvement in many of the designs. A fresh way to serve up wine in a box are these smart "Bag-In-A-Bag" white, red and rosé wines from Vernissage of Sweden. French wines packaged in stylish looking handbags - a fabulous idea for birthday parties, Bridal Showers, Fashion Shows, concerts, picnics, conferences and more.

Packaging French wines into a case that looks like a chic handbag, complete with tap or spout was such a clever design, it won the 2010 "Most Innovative" in the Carton Awards 2010 and a prestigious gold award in the Pentawards, the world´s largest packaging design competition.

The White: 2011 Chardonnay Viogner from France
Vernissage has a young, fresh and aromatic bouquet with hints of fruits such as apple, citrus, pineapple and vanilla. The flavour is dry, flowery and very fruity with the essence of pear, citrus, tropical fruits and vanilla.

Vernissage makes an excellent aperitif, but goes well with flavourful fish and shellfish dishes, especially with Asian influences of lime and ginger.

The Red: 2010 Syrah Cabernet Sauvigon from France
Vernissage Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon is a dark red wine. Inviting fruity scent with notes of spices, tones of ripe berries, black current, blackberries and herbs as well as chocolate and barrels. Goes well with red and white meat, pasta, poultry and aged cheese.

The Rosé: 2011 Syrah Rosé from France
The French Vernissage Syrah Rosé is a lively and fresh rosé wine from the region Pays d'Oc in southern France. With a hint of raspberries and blackberries in the flavor, it has a herblike finish. The generously fruity aroma has notes of wild red berries. Vernissage Syrah Rosé is perfect as an aperitif, but is also suitable for fish, seafood or light chicken salad.

The Bag-in-Bag wine Vernissage has taken both wine-lovers and the press by storm, in Sweden as well as internationally. The successful project was created by Takis Soldatos, Oenoforos, in cooperation with Sofia Blomberg Art Direction & Design. The result is elegant design combined with high quality wines from the French wine region Pays d'Oc.

The thought behind Vernissage is a playful approach to the curious and modern wine consumer. At the same time, a woman´s touch has propelled the Bag-in-Bag wine from the practical to the elegant.

The Deli Garage Will Satisfy Your Appetite For Both Great Package Design and Delicious Foods.

The Deli Garage is a German-based collective food label that offers exquisite delicacies of regional food from various manufacturers. The products, which vary from honey and olive oils to Vodka and chocolate spreads, are designed to emulate automotive products one would find in a mechanic's garage.

The packaged goods cleverly simulate the look of gas cans, car waxes, tool boxes, oils and spray cleaners, but maintain appetite appeal. Many of the items have been honored in annual package design competitions.

Food Finish Spray:

The Deli Garage developed Food Finish with a small food manufacturer that provides topquality food colouring to upmarket pastry and cake shops. The new innovation is the spray can. And that’s exactly what makes refining your culinary creations so very easy. Off with the lid and on with the spray.

Finito! Food Finish will chrome-plate and gold-coat anything in the kitchen that comes under its nozzle – from summer strawberries to the Christmas goose. And with two new colours, you’ll have your food blushing red and moody blue in a jiffy. Food Finish is completely neutral in taste and harmless to eat.

Vodka Powerfuel:

A big vodka from one of Germany’s smallest distilleries. Located deep in the Harz region, this fine distillate is produced by a small family business – with the peace and quiet and the love and experience that a really good vodka needs.

The wheat that powers this vodka is grown locally, and the distillation methods come from a long, time-honoured tradition. All the added flavours, such as melon or Italian espresso coffee beans, are carefully coaxed from fresh fruits, roots, plants and beans. And it isn’t just the content that’s strong.

Powerfuel is served in a stainless– steel hip flask.

Content: Natural fruit extracts, alcohol, water, sugar.

Choco Glue:

Once you try it, you’ll immediately know what you’ve been missing in ordinary chocolate spreads. Chocolate Glue is made traditionally by hand using carefully selected cocoa beans and only the best hazelnut oil.

Chocolate Glue with Biscuit also comes with a special crunchy ingredient: yummy biscuits, crumbled into tiny pieces and added to the mix. Thanks to the special family recipe, the little pieces of biscuit stay deliciously crisp right down to the very last drop of Chocolate Glue. But beware: the unique taste of Chocolate Glue can become an addiction that will stick to you for life.

Oil Change Olive Oils:

You’ll find the aromatic Arbequina olives that give Oil Change its smooth, fruity taste growing in Spain’s mild climate. For more than 75 years, a small family-run business in Catalonia has been making olive oil using old traditional methods – exclusively by hand and in temperatures below 27 degrees centigrade. Only this hand-pressed olive oil can actually be called ‘virgin’.

Using a complex procedure, whole lemons, crisp chillies or fresh rosemary are directly pressed with the olives, keeping their precious essential oils safe and sound. That is what makes Oil Change so special. The result is a flavoured olive oil of the highest quality.

Options:
Lemon: extra virgin olive oil, lemon.
Rosemary: extra virgin olive oil, rosemary.
Chilli: extra virgin olive oil, chilli.

Pasta Multi Noodles:

Nearly two decades of experience go into making this pasta. A small family-owned business in Burgenland, Austria, produces this handmade pasta – shaped like screws, nuts and bolts – especially for The Deli Garage using a traditional recipe of semolina and fresh organic eggs.

But what’s extra special about this pasta is its uneven outer surface and the little chambers in each individual shape. Altogether, this adds up to a Multi Noodle that really knows how to suck up a pasta sauce.
Content: Durum wheat semolina, six fresh eggs per kilogram, salt.
