Incredible Modern Barcelona R House With Equally Stunning Kitchen By Bulthaup.

The R House by architect Arturo Frediani in Cabrera de Mar, Barcelona is a beautifully designed modern home in a geometric shape that overlooks the Mediterranean Sea.

Believe it or not, this gorgeous home in Cape Town, South Africa is available to rent for vacation and holiday stays. You may have seen a few shots of this modern luxury home a few months ago on fubiz or Trendland, but didn't know it was available to rent.

“Miwa”, a modern, custom home by Phil Kean Designs, Inc., earned one of the home building industry’s highest honors when it captured the coveted Golden Aurora Award in the 2011 Aurora Awards design competition presented at the 33rd annual Southeast Building Conference (SEBC).

Referred to as "The Lake House" by its present owners, this five story, four bedroom, four bathroom, 8,694 sq foot home overlooks Lake Tahoe on a lot measuring just under a half an acre in Incline Village, Crystal Bay, NV.

In early September, the spectacular Santa Barbara residence of 45 year old director Michael Bay (of the Transformers franchise, the Island, The Rock, Armaggedon, Pearl Harbor, Bad Boys and countless commercials) went on the market for 6.8 million.

UPDATE: I'm sorry to report that despite being furnished the following information by Stuart Hughes' own company, recent reports hint that this story is greatly exaggerated, if not completely fabricated. The house seems to be in the 'planning stages' not actually built as Stuart Hughes claims. Unfortunately, this is not the first time Mr. Hughes has made many suspicious with his outlandish claims of luxury products. Born Rich reported his luxury yacht was a fake and Computer Choppers dedicates an entire page on their site to warn customers of Stuart Hughes' claims. As a result, I will no longer be reporting on products from Staurt Hughes. A special thanks goes out to Home Designing for their sleuthing. My sincerest apologies.

One of the most popular posts ever featured on this blog was that of a large concrete home in Poland by kwk promes, whose sliding walls and ominous exterior resembled a modern fortress.

This recent project, Concrete House II, from Spain's architecture firm, Joaquin Torres' A-Cero, gives that sanctuary a run for its money with its wild bunker-like appearance. The modern residential home features giant angular planes inside and out.

It's been all over the news for the past few days. The most expensive single family home ever sold in the United States was recently purchased by Russian billionaire Yuri Milner for $100 million dollars.

402 Redbud Trail is a modern residence designed by Cottam Hargrave in the wooded hills of Austin, Texas. The project, whose sale was handled by the Kush group, was designed for a family of five with multiple living areas. With few gadgets, the house focuses on permanence and craftsmanship. It is sited to capture the views from the rear of a steep site that is accessed from the bottom.

Most of us, heck... just about every single one of us, can only dream about a house like this. Unless you make a habit of browsing the luxury real estate magazines, few are even aware that a home like this exists, let alone could consider it for purchase.

The Mangwana House (also known as The Bequia House) designed by Edgley Design is a large modern and inviting home in a stunning locale, available for rent or for photoshoots through Grenadine Escape.

Andres Remy Architects designed this private residence for a couple with two children in Devoto, Argentina. The home, situated on an 18 x 24 meter lot, is a modern, luxurious home with an open floor plan, most of which has angles which allow one to view the unusual above ground pool.

The Wide Open Villa by KLab Architects

A stunning single family home in the suburb of Ekali in Athens, Greece. Begun in 2006 and completed in 2009, the monolithic volume gives the home an impression of having two fronts; a curved one along the street and a planar one towards the back yard, pool and private garden. From the outside, the building has an austere, almost intimidating character. Inside, plan and section work together to create a fluid space that undermines the initial monumental impression by inviting extended exterior views to enter.

Just put on the market for $12,500,000.00, this 8,000 square foot home has that combination of organic materials (wood, stone) with modern design and open floor plans, lots of light and a fabulous yard. Exactly what I've been looking for. It's just a wee bit out of my price range. Sigh.
