above: The HideAway Adult cozy, made of soft wool

If you ever wanted to just curl up and hide, I have yet to find anything more suitable than Rosalie Monod de Froideville's HideAways.

From the Netherlands this product line of bizarre cozies for everything from adults to dogs has been an ongoing series. Sorry, they don't have any for tea kettles.

Rosalie began the collection with the introduction of the adult, baby and dog wool cozies in October of 2005 and was described as follows:
"We all have these moments when we wish the world could just stop existing for a while. Whether it's to get away from a personal crisis or from universal threats, from time to time all we want to do is curl up and hide. Now, for these moments we have the perfect soultion: the HideAway. Pre-shaped in the hiding-position, this cover has a snug fit and is easy to use. you can get into it fast and easy, anywhere and at any time."

In December of 2005, she added the wool customizable Hideaway Memory Deluxe (also called the HideAway Custom:

Later, in 2006, she began using other materials for outdoor use and added the HideAway Corporate, the HideAway Thug-life and the HideAway Trench:

At this point, the HideAways were available to order directly from the Netherlands. Here's a look at the brochure:

I do not know if they are still available to order, but to inquire, you can contact them at HideAwayenterprises@gmail.com

In June of 2007, the Excursion HideAway came about, set on wheels, complete with handle:

In April of 2008, the Migratory HideAway was born, a compliment to her piece, The Migratory Home

Since then Rosalie has continued with unusual products which you can find on her site here.

Quiltsrÿche. Edgy Quilts By Boo Davis.

You gotta love a crafter who labels her textile designs with the sign-off "Made With Hate." At least I do. On her own site she describes herself as follows: "Boo Davis is a designer, illustrator and quiltmaker living in Seattle. She spent much of her youth cozied up under her grandmother's quilt listening to Ozzy. As a grown-up metalhead and design geek, the intersection of cute and evil is what she finds most compelling."

This is apparent in her hip quilts. No grandma patchwork for this gal, instead Quiltsrÿche blends rock n' roll imagery, attitude and a smart sense of color and design. Her graphic and edgy quilts are reminiscent of another modern quilter, Denyse Schmidt, only on acid.

Quiltsrÿche uses 100% cotton fabrics, though some of the vintage fabrics are blends. All fabrics are pre-washed. A Quiltsrÿche quilt is made with straightforward linear quilting that is durable and adds, in Boo's words, "that totally killer juxtaposition of handmade and industrial."

Your Quiltsrÿche quilt can live on your bed or on your wall. Request a rod pocket to be sewn on the back if you'd like it to hang. Quilt backs feature three stripes in coordinating or complementary colors. Let Boo know your color preferences for the binding and back of your quilt.

Order your Quiltsrÿche quilt directly from Boo here.

She also has a book available for purchase, Dare to Be Square Quilting: A Block-by-Block Guide to Making Patchwork and Quilts

•Here's a nice New York Times Q & A with the edgy quilter.

Cuddle Up In Modern Art. New Religion Cashmere Blanket By Damien Hirst.

New Religion Blanket, Damien Hirst, 2010
Wanna cuddle up with some modern art? This blanket by artist Damien Hirst features icons from his New Religion series and is large enough for a double bed.

Made in conjunction with Other Criteria, the luxury blanket is 100% cashmere, made in Scotland on a Jacquard loom and finished by hand. Each has a purled fringe and 2 New Religion labels.

Using techniques similar to those used 150 years ago, fabric and colour are built up in layers and given clarity and depth by the use of soft, pure Scottish water and cloth woven from the finest of fibres. Part of the finishing process involves air-drying and paper-pressing the blankets to ensure a lustrous surface.
