Furniture Design from the collective imagination of Outofstock.

Outofstock is a design collective, born out of a fortuitous meeting in Stockholm, hence the name Outofstock. Gabriel Tan and Wendy Chua from Singapore, Gustavo Maggio from Argentina and Sebastián Alberdi from Spain met at Electrolux Design Lab 2005. They connected, kept in touch, and after a reunion in 2006, decided to collaborate. This collaboration grew into an integrated studio offering interior and product design services and they have not looked back since.

Below are a few results of their talented collaborations.

ARBOR:

Arbor, which stands for trees in Latin, is a compact work desk featuring five different solid woods. Ideal for small apartments and hotel rooms, the Arbor desk is suited for laptops and light paperwork.

It allows for storage through a front-opening drawer and four top-opening compartments on the table surface. The storage compartments are descending in size as one moves towards the right, allowing one to organize his/her workspace in a convenient manner. The legs of the desk can be dissembled and packed separately for convenient transportation.

UP & AWAY:

A series of lights available in various dimensions and configurations, which can be wall-mounted or suspended, look like kites made from luminous glass.

The power cable fixed to the end of its body emphasizes the impression that it is being carried on the wind. UP&AWAY lights incorporate LEDinGLASS active glass technology from QUANTUM GLASS™. Manufactured by Saazs.

AER LEATHER TOP DESK (prototype):

The AER leather and wood desk actually has office items such as a bic pen and cap and paperclips molded under the leather stitched top:

PAUSE:

An inviting piece that greets visitors stepping into the house, Pause provides those precious minutes of calm transition as one remove the shoes and slow down after a busy day. The combination of a thin folded steel sheet and the criss-crossed legs give this welcoming bench, a strong character and high strength without losing its natural simplicity.

It can also be used as a small side table where magazines or books can be placed on the shelf. Materials: Powder coated steel / Solid Oak. Manufactured by Bolia.

SHERLOCK:

A floor lamp inspired by the magnifying glass, hence the name. The light source is a ring diffuser containing twenty seven wide-angle LEDs.

An iconic, sculptural lamp at 1.9 metres tall when fully up-right, it can be used as a task light when inclined or as an ambient lamp when rotated upright.

BLACK FOREST:

Inspired by tree branches, this table is made up of two interlocking Y-shaped oak junctions and an asymmetric top (available in mirror finish or wood).

It can be disassembled into three separate parts for flat shipping.

ERASER:

Eraser brings back memories of playing with the iconic Pink Pearl rubber eraser back in elementary school.

Displaying irony between form and function, the USB stick stores data in the familiar shape of the classic ink eraser. Available in 1GB or 2GB.

HUES:

Inspired by the overlay of colors in venn diagrams, this set of nesting tables is composed of waterjet-cut low iron glass tops that are sandblasted and coloured.

Legs and support frame in painted steel. Manufactured by Ligne Roset.

COAT SHED:

Inspired by the garden shed, this coat rack is designed to welcome people into the room or space it is placed in.

A relaxed slanted position and illumination from its roof brings a welcoming presence, telling newcomers it is ready to take their coat.

WINTER ARRIVES:

Winter Arrives is a series of stools emulating the fresh snowfall on outdoor objects. With generous cushions and contrasting slim legs these pieces remind us of this phenomenon nature creates.

PLATOON:

Charlie and Bravo are table lamps inspired by plastic toy soldiers. Its curved base and expression of its tubular body gently convey the imagery of toy soldiers. Matte lacquered steel.

First Class First Aid. Gucci, Chanel, Burberry & Louis Vuitton Inspired Bandaids.

I've already written about Leather bandages, Swarovski crystal studded bandages and as you may or may not know even good ol' Johnson & Johnson came out with designer Band-aids by Cynthia Rowley last year and in 2008, by Brazilian fashion designer Alexandre Herchovitch.

But these will have your friends drooling over your superficial wounds with envy. With the tagline "Heal in Style" these FDA approved adhesive bandages, cleverly named Brandages, play off famous and recognizable status symbols from such fashion brands as Burberry, Gucci, Chanel and Louis Vuitton. The patterns and logos are modified ever so slightly - undoubtedly to avoid a lawsuit.

They are so fashionable, I may just have to give myself a papercut.

Gucci inspired Brandages:

Chanel inspired Brandages:

Burberry inspired Brandages:

Louis Vuitton inspired Brandages:

In addition to the status brand inspired versions, they will be coming out with solid colored bandages and these dog-inspired bandages as well:

Right now there's only one place you can purchase Brandages and that's at the hip online Japanese lifestyle store Sugoi Life.

The 2012 Lavazza Calendar

The Lavazzers is the name of the twentieth edition of the Lavazza Calendar, which in celebration of such an important event reunites 12 of the masters of photography that helped to make the Lavazza Calendar such a success over the years: Erwin Olaf, Thierry Le Gouès, Miles Aldridge, Marino Parisotto, Eugenio Recuenco, Elliott Erwitt, Finlay MacKay, Mark Seliger, Annie Leibovitz, Albert Watson, David LaChapelle, Ellen von Unwerth.

They put themselves enthusiastically into play, celebrating their most intimate relationships with the Lavazza coffee through self-portraits. The 12 photographers, just like any closely knit team, were led by the Armando Testa agency, which was in charge of producing also this edition of the Lavazza Calendar and was art-directed by Fabio Novembre. The photographers interpreted themselves in innovative, unusual and imaginative shots.
