Wrap Your Loved One Around Your Finger. Literally. Contura Rings by Thomas Geison.

Jewelry designer Thomas Giesen has been creating and producing his own jewellery collections in his own workshop for 20 years.

With several beautifully crafted pieces to his credit, it's his Contura rings that fascinate me. He developed the idea of crafting luxury rings from a human profile in 1998 and it took him a few years to develop the technique to get it precisely right. The final result is a very unique and personal Red Dot Design Award-winning piece of jewelry.

The Contura Rings can be crafted from yellow, white, rose or black gold, silver, titanium, platinum or stainless steel. Available in 8,10,12 and 14mm widths, the rings are suited to any gender or age.

And many options are available. Diamonds, pearls and other gemstones may be added in a variety of styles (see below):

Unearthly Commitment: Out Of This World Wedding Rings Made of Gold That Went To Space.

50 sets of rings known as SWR-50th Anniversary Collection were inspired by the 50th anniversary of first human space flight which took place on April 12, 1961. The collection will be created in cooperation with jewelry designers from all over the world.

On May 20, 7:24 (MDT) the first set of space wedding rings were sent in space in a suborbital sounding rocket in New Mexico, USA. The flight went smoothly and the professionally secured package containing one set of wedding rings and some gold reached the space and came to Earth sound and safe.

The first 10 sets of rings available now will be made from the gold that was flown in space in the same capsule as the first Space Wedding Rings SWR-001.

Each set of Space Wedding Rings will be assigned a unique serial number and engraved with the SpaceWed logo. The rings will be sold in custom designed, space-themed packaging and will include a Certificate of Space Flight, as well as documentation of the rocket launch.

From the beginning of June you will be able to place an ORDER for the RINGS AVAILABLE NOW or PRE-ORDER the rings which will go in space in the next flight by the end of 2011.

Thanks to Nishu from The Luxury Hub for the tip!

The Marriage is long over.
What to do with that ring?

The stats tell us that 1 out of 3 marriages end in divorce. With very few exceptions, neither ex-spouse wants to keep the rings because of the negative memories.

What to do?

Jill Testa came up with an idea at of all places, a funeral! Today, she and her brother, Steve,
run weddingringcoffin.com, an online site that sells miniature caskets to display rings and symbolize a dead marriage.

The coffins are priced from $30 to $35, measure about 6 inches long and are made of solid wood with a dark mahogany finish and black velvet lining. A split lid allows for an open or closed casket. Also available are engraved brass plaques, with messages ranging from the hopeful — "Bury the past and move on" — to the cynical, "Six feet isn't deep enough!"

You can also provide your own message as one ex-husband did whose plaque read: "You should have learned to play golf."
