Modern Concrete & Steel Ping Pong Table Doubles As Indoor/Outdoor Dining Table.

James De Wulf of DeWulf Concrete has created a modern new usable ping pong table that also makes for a beautiful indoor or outdoor dining table.

Made to regulation size, the Ping Pong table dimensions are 9’ by 5’ by 30”; and can actually be used for Ping Pong, with acid etched lines that will last as long as the table and a smooth surface that provides a great “bounce”.

The table is also ideal for outdoor use because the components are impervious to moisture, salt air and freeze thaw cycles. However many have expressed a preference to use the table indoors because of its clean, simple beauty, and its smooth, buttery feel.

The stately table is defined by its top which appears to float above the legs. Incredibly thin at one inch, the table top is the culmination of all of DeWulf’s expertise in working with concrete compounds.

To put this in perspective, normal concrete would have to be nearly nine inches in thickness to achieve the same strength and durability of the one inch top that DeWulf has developed for this table.

Fontable Letter & Number Tables Spell Out C-O-O-L.

Designers Alessandro Canepa & Andrea Paulicelli of Italy's Mamadesignlab have created Fontable, a collection of alphanumeric metal tables.

The new concept in modular elements brings a revolution to the world of furnishing accessories, building upon a graphic matrix to turn it into an item for interior design.

FONTABLE are alphanumeric elements reproducing letters from A to Z in lower and upper case and numbers from 0 to 9 which become modular tables. Each element acquires three dimensions and personality and can be played around with, to customize ever changing and dynamic shapes.

Tables are made in steel sheet with lacquered varnishing in white, black and red, with legs in anodized aluminum of adjustable height allowing to overlap table surfaces. Special finishing and further color variations are available on demand.

Produced in a small atelier outside of Milan under the supervision of Alessandro & Andrea the tables are made from steel sheet with lacquered varnishing in white, black and red. Legs are in anodized aluminum and are height adjustable, allowing overlap of table surfaces.

You can purchase the tables from Outdoorz Gallery.

mTABLE: Design and Manufactured Via Mobile Phone!

The mTABLE is a table people can design using a mobile phone!

Yep, you heard me.., design a table via your mobile phone. The mTABLE is designed by sculpting a computer generated image of the table surface, choosing dimensions, materials and colors. These parameters are directly transmitted to the computer controlled production facility for the manufacturing of the custom designed mTABLE which is then shipped to you in approx 8-12 weeks.

How do you make one? Well, there are some parameters, first you must have the right phone.

Get the mTABLE application from the mshape site and install it on a NOKIA series 60 compatible mobile phone (7650 or later).

Then the mTABLE is designed with the following simple actions:

1. Sculpt a smooth landscape by placing one of seven deformers (Deformers are intuitive and interactive tools used to sculpt surfaces into new shapes). Depending on the distribution of the forces you can even create holes in your mTABLE.

2. Choose any table size between 0.6m x 0.6m and 1.2m x 2.4m. The height can be set between 0.2m and 0.9m. It can be a lounge table, cofee table, console or massive dining table.

3. Choose between Swiss walnut wood and high gloss lacquer in numerous colors.

Then, submit your design to mSHAPE.COM.

Once submitted, your design is rendered and can be viewed in high resolution on the mShape site. The details of your mTABLE can be checked using a 3D viewer. You can browse through other designs to get inspired and view pictures of already built mTABLES (like those shown further down in this post) and then order your mTABLE through a local dealer.

The design data is transmitted to the manufacturer where the surface of the mTABLE is shaped with a computer controlled mill (shown above). The final assembly and quality control is taken care of by a professional carpenter.

Your mTABLE will be shipped after 8-12 weeks. Every mTABLE produced receives a unique number.
