Eastern Eggs. Artist (& Robot) Decorated Wooden Eggs Whose Proceeds Aid Japan.

A few weeks ago, I introduced you to the Egg-Bot, a robotic kit that, with the addition of a fine point Sharpie or similarly sized pen, will decorate Easter eggs (or anything round, cylindrical and small) with art, design, words or logos for you.

Now, that very concept is being put to good and beneficial use by TBWA London who has created Eastern Eggs, an online site/ store selling wooden eggs decorated with the Egg-bot by various artists, with a portion of the proceeds going to Red Cross - Japan Tsunami Appeal.

Eastern Eggs features your choice of 14 different eggs, each illustrated by one of the following artists: Danke Schoen, Damien Weighill, Paul Pateman, Jan Kallwejt, Kristyna Litten, Matt Lyon, Nick Purser, Shin Tanaka, Tony Riff, Yehrin Tong or Ewen Stenhouse.

The suggested donation price is £10 for the eggs, £8 of which will go to the British Red Cross to aid Japan.

New Call Of Duty: Black Ops Commercial Makes Even Peace Lovers Want To Shoot Someone.

The latest 60 second spot (shown after the stills in this post) for Activision's soon to be released Call of Duty: Black Ops video game, conceived of by TBWA Chiat Day and directed by Rupert Sanders, makes even me want to pick up a gun - or at least a game controller - and I'm about as far as one gets from a war monger.

Despite your stance on war or video games, one cannot deny the visceral appeal of this commercial. Set to the Rolling Stone's Vietnam-era classic Gimme Shelter, the gamers (a variety which includes, amongst many, a medical technician, a scientist, an electronics store clerk, a hotel concierge, a businessman, Kobe Bryant, Jimmy Kimmel and not one, but three women - even a Birkenstock wearing Granola) find themselves so immersed in the experience, they appear engaged in real life combat. To present a video game as so life-like that the players appear in the virtual world may not be a new concept or idea, but in this case, it is beautifully executed.

The everyday folk - and avid gamer celebs Kobe Bryant and Jimmy Kimmel who make appearances in the spot - are adeptly brandishing weapons while donning their civilian garb (love the Chanel shoulder bag), amongst the thunder of helicopters and flying shrapnel.

above: Video game fans Jimmy Kimmel and Kobe Bryant make appearances in the spot.

There's only one word of dialogue uttered in the whole script... when the hotel concierge, Vic, stops to answer his phone and identify himself while in the midst of combat.

And the final shot of a fast food cook with guns a-blazin' is the Creme de la Combat.

God damn, they were right when they said "There's A Soldier In All Of Us" and I didn't even know it. Now where's my Bazooka?

There’s a Soldier in All of Us (:60)

A Cool Look & Warm Feeling For The Winter Olympics From TBWA Chiat Day & VISA

Advertising agency TBWA Chiat Day continues their inspiring work for the Olympics with a new campaign, promotion and website for the 2010 Olympic Winter Games. The GO WORLD ad campaign for VISA continues, but now with a cool icy blue winter look and a warm approach. The television, print work and accompanying website give us chills, while simultaneously raising our body temperatures.

The campaign breaks with a new TV commercial, still using the fabulous Morgan Freeman as the voice-over:

In addition, they are promoting using your VISA card for a chance to win a trip to the Winter Games:

The website, which just launched yesterday, intimately introduces us to five competing athletes; Linsdey Jacobellis, Julia Mancuso, Ryan St. Onge, Angela Ruggiero, and Alexi Salamone, whose inspirational stories are told through nicely produced beautiful training videos, photo stills and more.

above: the homepage of the newly launched website

Here are the 5 athletes showcased on the site, photo stills and training videos.

Lindsey Jacobellis, Women's Snowboard Cross:

Lindsey, 24, is one of the most successful women snowboarders in the world. At the 2006 Olympic Winter Games, she took home a silver in the Women's Snowboard Cross.

Julia Mancuso, Women's Alpine Ski:

At 25, Julia is the current women's Olympic giant slalom gold medal champion, and holds the record for the most consecutive podium finishes at U.S. championships.

Ryan St. Onge, Men's Freestyle Aerials:

Ryan, 26, is the Olympic gold medal favorite in the sport of Men's Freestyle Aerials. With 7 career World Cup wins, he closed out the 2009 season ranking #2 in the world. Look out for his quintuple-twisting triple-back somersault (that's 3 flips with 5 twists) he plans to unleash in Vancouver.

Angela Ruggiero, Women's Ice Hockey:

A three-time Olympic medalist, World Champion Angela is the leader of the U.S. Women's Hockey Team. She currently holds the record as "All-time Leader in Games Played for TEAM USA."

Alexi Salamone, Men's Paralympic Sled Hockey:

At only 22, he is one of the best sled hockey players in the world. An integral player in the bronze medal-winning team in the 2006 Paralympic Winter Games, he made the 2010 US Paralympic sled hockey team and is presently training in New York for a victory this year.

And, beginning November 4, you can customize a VISA gift card on the website to include a photo of one of the athletes:

Tiger "Woods Of Wisdom" : All 3 New Animated Spots For Gatorade & More

A new commercial campaign from Gatorade agency TBWA\Chiat\Day touts a newly reformulated version of Gatorade Tiger with an animated youthful Tiger Woods.

Gatorade Tiger Focus has a new formulation with theanine, which is found naturally in tea, and when combined with advanced hydration and carbohydrates, helps people stay mentally focused. The new product has half the calories of traditional Gatorade Thirst Quencher and 25 percent more electrolytes as well as the added nutrition benefit of a good source (10% Daily Value) of vitamin E.

The spots are executed in Disney-style animation, a la Jungle Book. The wise Grizzly bear, Colonel, who is actually based on Tiger's own father, Earl, is voiced by Samuel L. Jackson.

The below commercial stills are high res, click on them to enlarge and see the animation in detail:

The spots feature original music composed by Boosty Collins of Parliament Funkadelic fame, and includes voiceovers by Tiger's swing coach Hank Haney and caddie Steve Williams.

Despite being lambasted by the Chicago Sun Times, Robert Littal's BSO (Black Sports Online) is a fan and I believe there are many more to come. You can decide for yourselves.

Here are the other 2 spots in the campaign which have not yet aired:

Forest Jamboree:
