The New Limited Edition Sun and Moon Watch from Mr. Jones.

The new Sun and Moon watch from Mr. Jones shows the time based on the position of the Sun or Moon in the sky on the watch face.

The crescent shaped sky on the dial represents 12 hours with the time running from left to right. At 6am the sun 'rises' on the left of the dial. The sun slowly climbs in the sky until it reaches the apex of the crescent midday. The sun gradually descends until it reaches the right hand marker at 6pm.

After 6pm the Sun ‘sets’ and disappears from view, meanwhile the Moon ‘rises’ on the left. The position of the Moon in the sky therefore shows the hours from 6pm until 6am.

Along with the image of the Sun and Moon, the hour disk features a revolving image with scenes of the natural world that gradually passes as the day progresses. The minutes are displayed in the centre dial and these run in the conventional way, so each marker on this dial corresponds to five minutes.

Sun and Moon is a revival of an very old watch design: "Sun and Moon" watches were first produced in Britain in the late 1600s during a period of experimentation with ways to represent the time. We really like this visualisation of the time - it's both logical and elegant.

Sun and Moon is produced in an edition of 100 pieces, each watch numbered on the case back and comes with a signed certificate from the designer.

The watch comes packed in an MJW box which features a newly commissioned artwork by illustrator Fanny Shorter. Inspired by the 24 hour display, Fanny's artwork shows the life cycle of the mayfly which takes just 24 hours:

Just In Time For Halloween. The Last Laugh Tattoo Edition Wristwatch.

Mr.Jones Watches has just released this special edition of their Last Laugh Watch:

The time on this watch is displayed on the skull's teeth - the upper jaw shows the hours and the lower the minutes. The watch is a link to the tradition of the memento mori - an object designed to remind us that life is brief and we should seize the moment while we're here.

This new version of The Last Laugh watch from Mr. Jones Watches features specially commissioned artwork by British Tattoo Artist Adrian Willard, “the design comes from the Mexican Day of the Dead festival. The festival focuses on gathering to remember friends and family who have died. Many gifts and offerings are handed out including sugar skulls that are given to both the living and the dead. It has become a very popular image in the tattoo world over the years and has replaced the regular skull in the mainstream tattoo trends.”

On Foot, Always On My Mind & Cyclops: 3 New Watches From Mr. Jones

Mr Jones Watches has just released three new models, their third limited edition series of unusual and fun wristwatches. The new watches are called Always on my mind, On Foot and Cyclops. They are produced in an initial limited edition of 100 pieces. Each watch is numbered on the back of the case and signed on the insert card by the designer, Crispin Jones.

Each also has specially commissioned limited edition artwork on the packaging by Debbie Smyth. Inside the box you'll find the guarantee card - every watch is guaranteed for 12 months from the date of purchase against any original manufacturing defect.

Always On My Mind:

The hour and minute hands of this watch spell out "always on my mind" in an endearing typewriter font, as if each of the letters has been tapped out by hand. This watch is nostalgic for a time when love letters were something you could hold in your hand. Certainly Mr Jones’ most sentimental watch to date, it is the perfect gift for the one you love.

Always on my mind costs £125 (roughly US$179 / €123) and is available here.

On Foot:

On Foot displays the world record times for running different distances. Three arcs map the records to the hours, minutes and seconds on the watch. The outer arc shows records of less than 60 seconds: 100m, 200m and 400m; the sweep of the second hand corresponds with span of each record. The two inner arcs align with the minute and hour hand respectively, for records of under and over one hour, showing distances from 800 metres all the way up to 100km.

On Foot costs £125 (roughly US$179 / €123) and is available now here.

Cyclops:

Cyclops dispenses with a conventional arrangement of hour, minute and second hands; instead a single hour marker passes around the coloured dial. Each hour is represented by a different coloured circle, the black hoop gradually passes over each circle to indicate the time.

The limited edition version of Cyclops sold out in just five days. However, they will be reissuing the watch as part of their permanent collection later in the year.

Mr. Jones Watches: Telling Time With 'Tude.

We expect watches to tell us the time, but to tell us whether to say 'yes' or 'no'?

Whether or not we are loved and whether or not we are blessed?

These witty wristwatches from mr. jones (aka Crispin Jones) do exactly that and more.

My personal favorite is the "Accurate" (special edition shown above) which holds no punches by reminding us with every glance at the face that time is running out.

Mr. Jones Watches is the new cult watch brand from London with all the designs by Crispin Jones. The watches (and the packaging) are designed with modern looking graphics and fun uses of color without being 'too novelty'. The combination of clever kinetic movements or sayings on the face and hands, stainless steel cases and contrast stitched leather bands (often in 2 colors) make them unique to any other brand. They are genuine indie products entirely conceived and executed following a singular vision. The watches are witty, sassy and silly... and affordable at average price of $130.00 USD

The full line includes two 'special edition' watches, three 'limited edition' watches (numbered to 100 each) and a permanent collection of five styles:

Mr. Jones himself, Crispin Jones:

"today everyone has a mobile phone to do the really functional timekeeping, this means that the wristwatch is free to do something a bit different. the watches i design reflect and comment on society, both on the role that time plays in all our lives and also on the social impact of technology. of course because i would like people to wear these watches, i also work very hard to make them beautiful objects in their own right." - Crispin Jones about the design of his watches.
