The Baddy Is Back. Now in Big and Baby Sizes, The Hip Garden Gnome Is Also A Lamp.
You may recall that I introduced you to an adorable modern colored resin garden gnome a ways back. Normally I am anti-garden gnome, but the Baddy was definitely the cutest outdoor bearded decor I'd ever seen. Designed for the Italian plastics and polyethylene product company PLUST, he's now available in a mini size as well as an indoor/outdoor lamp in two sizes.
Original Baddy
“Baddy” is a colored resin sculpture by design by JoeVelluto (JVLT) and Alberto Fabbian
Suitable for both outdoor and indoor settings, the original baddy comes in 8 different finishes including a luminescent version that acts as a “dwarf guard” thanks to a luminous resin that absorbs light momentarily and then releases it for several hours, making it a small presence in the night.
Finishing:
- coloured: dull green, white C2, fucsia, acid green, pearl black
- lacquered: white, black
- metallized: gold
- special effect: photoluminescent
Mini Baddy
Now, the Baddy also comes in a mini version as well (three colors only):
Mini Baddy:
- coloured: white C2, fucsia, acid green
The Baddy Light (original):
Portable and versatile small luminous sculpture suitable for indoor environments. The Baddy Light can be used as a courtesy light in domestic environments, or as a cheerful and informal luminous object to customise rooms, hotel rooms or environments where there is traffic. Baddy Light is available in various colours and two sizes to adapt to the various types of uses and contexts.
Finishing:
- basic colours: neutral
- colours: fuchsia, acid green
The Baddy Light (mini):
Small abat-jour with a white LED light kit, suitable also as mood light.
Finishing:
- basic colours: neutral
- colours: acid green

The Hippest Christmas Nutcracker You'll Find This Year.
Last year, West Elm carried some cool modern versions of traditional nutcrackers that I posted on my list of hip christmas decor over at ThisNext, but not this year. But alas, no need to cry because this year CB2 has one of the hippest takes on a traditional nutcracker.
The Inked nutcracker is carved from white pine and painted red, white and black. He is tatted with "Naughty" on his right arm with an intricate montage of skull and candy cross bones. And the word "Nice" scripts his left arm in a cozy scene of fireplace logs and mistletoe.
The man in the big red suit has a permanent place in this nutcracker's heart in the form of "Santa Baby" etched on his chest. "Ho Ho Ho" banner decks out his handle. Cool.
dimensions: 4.75"Wx4.25"Dx16.25"H
details:
• White pine
• Silk screen print and painted details
• Wipe with clean dry cloth
• Made in China

Lip Service. Hand Painted Flatware With Hollywood Orifices by Andrea Mary Marshall.
The “Lip Service” dinner series by artist Andrea Mary Marshall consists of both “The Original Supper,” a set of hand painted spoons, and “The Marilyn Knives,” individual hand painted knives and both are available for purchase.
The Original Supper
“The Original Supper” is a thirteen piece set of double-sided, hand painted silverware inspired by 15th century Apostle Spoons, which included a decorative spoon for Jesus Christ and each of the twelve apostles seated at ‘The Last Supper.’
above: The thirteen Hollywood icons featured in “The Original Supper” are (from left to right): Shirley Temple, Dolly Parton, Joan Crawford, Mae West, Marilyn Monroe, Anna Nicole Smith, Madonna, Kim Kardashian, Elizabeth Taylor, Tina Turner, Diana Ross, Cher and Britney Spears.
Replacing Jesus and his apostles are thirteen female Hollywood icons objectified by only their red lips and labia. Madonna is featured as Jesus Christ or the ‘Savior Spoon’ and Marilyn Monroe is represented by a knife, symbolizing Judas and ‘the kiss of death.’ This double-sided set serves up sex as ‘the original meal ticket’ and comments on the consumption and exploitation of sexuality in popular culture.

Each set of lips is painted a different shade, from pink to red, as legend has it Marilyn Monroe wore five lipsticks at once to create her famous pout.

Her work has appeared in numerous group exhibitions, including 400 Women (Shoreditch Town Hall, London, UK), Grupo de los Diecseis Exhibition (Hacienda de los Morales, Mexico City), and Ni Una Mas (The Juarez Murders) (Leonard Pearlstein Gallery, Drexel University, Philadelphia, PA). The FACETURE Machine and the Unusual Molded Vases, Lamps and End Tables by Phil Cuttence.
The FACETURE series by Phil Cuttance consists of handmade faceted vessels, lightshades and an end table. Each object is produced individually by casting a water-based resin into a simple handmade mould. The mould is then manually manipulated to create the each object's form before each casting, making every piece utterly unique.
The FACETURE machine, 2012.
The FACETURE machine's construction is simple and purposeful, screwed together to allow it to be flat-packed for shipping. Wheels make the machine portable within a working space.
The shelving beneath provides storage for freshly cast pieces, and room for the casting stool to be stored.
The ‘hopper’ holding the powder is made simply from polypropylene sheet, in the same way as the moulds.
The casting jig at the back of the machine is simple and allows the artist to peer into the mould and control the flow of the fast setting resin. This means it is being cast evenly and economically, leaving a thin yet strong wall thickness. It can be attached at two different widths to accommodate different sized moulds, such as vases or a table.
The FACETURE project was created with the support of Creative New Zealand.
FACETURE lightshades, 2012
Each lightshade is handmade, unique, and numbered on the top. They measure approximately 32cm deep x 19cm diameter and are available in blue, charcoal, pink, yellow. Custom colours are also available.
Faceture light shades must be used with a CFL/ECO bulb with a maximum wattage of 25W. (A 25W CFL bulb emits the equivalent light to a 100W incandescent bulb.) To protect your shade do not exceed this.
FACETURE vases, 2012
Each vase is handmade, unique, available in two sizes and numbered on the base.
Available in two sizes; tall - 46 x 12 cm approx. and small - 35 x 8 cm approx
Standard colours - Charcoal, blue, yellow, pink, white. Custom colours available.
FACETURE side tables, 2012
