KAWS Designs Signature Light Bulbs for The Standard That You Can Buy For Your Home.






The Standard Hotel has announced a Limited Edition series of light bulbs designed specifically for them by artist KAWS. This is the first time KAWS has created an item so unique compared to his existing body of work which includes the highly coveted toys, shoes, T-shirts, wallets, etc.

“I love The Standard and the different projects they have been doing” shares KAWS, “when invited to create something I wanted to redesign something basic that could be found in every hotel room in the world so we decided to make a light bulb.”

The collection of light bulbs come as a set of three - Red, Purple, and Green filaments bearing the KAWS’ signature XX. Dimensions of each globe is about 4.75” x 2.25” and they screw into any standard incandescent fixture. Each bulb is crystal clear emanating 3 watts of electricity for a dreamy low light experience.

*Sadly these sold out very quickly and now can be found for exorbitant prices on eBay. However, I bet they end up producing more.

KAWS and Hennessy Release A Second Cognac Bottle Design Exclusively for Colette.




Hennessy, the cognac house founded in 1765 collaborated with artist Kaws for limited edition "collector" bottle (shown below) which you might have seen on such culture blogs as Hypebeast and Nitrolicious.



Now, a "special" version made specifically for Colette, published in 213 copies exclusively for 213 rue Saint-Honoré.



The Special Kaws X Hennessy bottle for Colette (shown below) will be available at Colette and online starting November 21st. (50€).



Produced and bottled in Cognac, France.

You can use the Hennessy Kaws locator on their facebook page to find the first KAWS Hennessy Cognac Bottle.

Kiehl's X Koons Limited Edition Collection Benefits Kids And Dry Skin.




Kiehl's has collaborated with world-recognized contemporary artist Jeff Koons (again*) to raise awareness - and funds- for kids in need.




Jeff Koons is using his creative genius and Kiehl's is using their brilliant body lotion (I kid you not, it's one of the greatest products ever made) to help children in need around the world. With the shared vision of creating safer, more sustainable environments for children, the partnership is raising awareness and funds through the sale of the 2010 Limited Edition Creme de Corps Holiday Collection, a four-product collection that includes 3 sizes of their awesome body lotion, each with a colorful Koons label and their newest formulation, Creme de Corps Whipped Body Butter.

100% of Kiehl’s net profits from the sale of each product will benefit The Koons Family Institute, an initiative of the International Centre for Missing and Exploited Children (ICMEC).

*This is not the first time Koons has lent his creative talents to Kiehl's. This past March, in celebration of Earth Day, Jeff Koons, along with Pharell Williams, Julianne Moore and Malia Jones created special edition labels for Kiehl's Acai Damage-Protecting Mist.

Lindsay Lohan's Photos For Double Exposure & COMPLEX magazine




Lindsay Lohan, recently jailbait, now a jailbird, will be getting lots of press attention today. Not only does she begin her incarceration in a Los Angeles jail, but will be featured on Bravo's Double Exposure, the tv series featuring famed fighting photographers, duo Markus Klinko and Indrani.

Talk about timing. As Ms. Lohan begins her 90 day sentence, an upcoming episode will feature her photoshoot for the August/September issue of Complex magazine (Lindsay's second appearance on the show). Lindsay models a bikini, corsets, bustiers, garters and thigh-high boots... undoubtedly more fashionable than her mug shot.

According to Stylelist, Markus and Indrani are not at all pleased with COMPLEX magazine's editorial having added the KAWS artwork and feel that the context in which Lindsay appears with the illustrations is disrespectful.

The magazine, for which Lindsay did not comply with being interviewed, will hit stands in August.

Nike X LIVESTRONG Stages & The Art Bikes by KAWS, Fairey, Newson, Scharf, Nara & Hirst

Now updated to include Damien Hirsts's bike!



Stages is a united effort between Lance Armstrong and Nike in which they asked over 20 global artists to help raise funds for cancer awareness by using their creativity to express the LIVESTRONG message.



The "Stages" exhbition will debut in Paris on July 17th during the Tour de France at Galerie Emmanuel Perrotin and run through August 8th.

The exhibition will then travel to New York City for an October showing before moving to Los Angeles.

THE ART BIKES FOR LANCE ARMSTRONG


In addition to the pieces in the art show, several of today's hottest artists decorated Trek bikes for Lance to ride in several of his 2009 races, including in several legs of the Tour de France. The bikes made especially for this occasion that Lance will actually be riding were designed (well... more like decorated) by the following artists: Kaws, Shepard Fairey, Marc Newson, Kenny Scharf, Yoshitomo Nara and Damien Hirst.
