Hooked On Walls: A Site As Beautiful As The Wallpaper They Make

Obviously I surf the net. A lot. And come across a plethora of wonderfully designed products. But every once in awhile (not often, mind you), the site is as beautiful to look at as the products it's selling and in this case, Hooked On Walls is one of those sites. A company launched in january of this year, Hooked OnWalls is part of the Arte International Collection of fabrics and textiles. The website was designed by the uber talented Group94.

Now, I'm not saying it's beautifully 'designed'. That would imply that the navigation is intuitive, that the menu is clear and that finding what, where and how to purchase is easy. This is not the case here, but rather the images and photography are so compelling that it's a nice a site to sell a photographer's work as it is to showcase these amazing wallpapers. Now, I have contacted them in an attempt to learn who the photographer is but to no avail. If any of my readers know, by all means tell me so I can credit them!

They have four collections, all with edgy names; Jealous Walls, Stolen Diamonds, Hysterical Glamour and Belgian Graffiti.

Each of the collections above has many matching solid colored wallpapers to accompany the patterns, too.

Now take a look at just some of the beautiful photography from the site:

New Artist Wallpapers From Rollout; Bollywood on Acid & Pantone!

I did a post awhile ago on Vancouver's Rollout, a creative design company that produces custom wallpaper as well as a series of artist designed wallpapers.

Their latest custom designs include two fabulous patterns for Mango Shiva, a contemporary Indian restaurant in Calgary.

When Rollout sat down with Kam Dhillon over some mango lhassi and asked what he was looking for in his custom wallpapers, he thought a moment and said "The Beatles go to Bollywood on an Acid Trip". They smiled and said: "No problem Kam. No problem at all."

The project required 1000 sq/ft of wallpaper for the Girls & Boys Restroom walls and ceilings. The overall aesthetic of the main room was too elegant and restrained but Mr. Dhillon wanted the bathrooms to be lush with vibrant colour and imagery.

I think they achieved it, see for yourself:

The latest additions to their artist designed series (and available for purchase) are the following three designs, including one that's as close to Pantone wallpaper as I can find, thus far:

The Owl, the Cat and the Hand by Pandarosa

Exposif wallpapers are printed on Adhesive Synthetic Paper which is thin, light and flexible with a durable, wet-strength base. It delivers accurate colors and vivid results on its high-quality matte surface. Application is easy: the wallpaper comes in panels measuring 100cm (40 inches) in width, and as long as the client requires. Due the extreme thinness of the paper, there are no visible overlaps, and the final result is a perfectly seamless wallscape.

Prices are calculated at a flat rate of €325.00 ($415.00) plus €29.00 per sqare meter ($3.50 per square foot).

About Maxalot:

Maxalot crosses digital arts with emerging pop surrealism, aiming to reach broad audiences with individuals and studios who break boundaries in art and design.

Since their debut in 2003, Maxalot has set course to become an influential force in the global graphic and design community and now incorporates an online boutique offering unique objets d'art, limited edition giclée prints and graphic wallscapes.

Formerly based in Barcelona, the Maxalots have returned to their motherland, Holland and now curate exhibitions in a series of unconventional venues throughout the city. Maxalot brings together graphic design, iconography, street art and all the hybrids in between to create exhibitions and creative projects related to the art of image-making.
