Steampunk Snow Globes By Camryn Forrest. One Of A Kind Shakeable Art.
above: Steampunk Airship snow globe by Camryn Forrest designs
Two of my favorite things have been combined by artist Camryn Forrest. The Steampunk genre and the Snow Globe (or water globe or snowdome). Her intricate little shakeable sculptures combine elements associated with the Victorian age of machinery along with copper, silver or rich pewter glitter as the "snow". The bases upon which the glass encased sculptures sit vary in materials, from marble to woods, and are decorated with "Steampunk" styled embellishments.

This year DAC, the Dansk Architectural Center, invited architect firms Jaja, Primus and Masu to create new interpretations of the Christmas landscape in the form of snowglobes or snow domes, with modern pixies or elves (Nisse).
Seven Deadly Sin Snowdomes By Ligorano And Reese
Only a select few know that I've got a ridiculously enormous collection of snowdomes ( also called snowglobes, shakies or waterglobes). Most of the over 300 that I own are packed away in boxes with the exception of a few of the more artsy and unusual ones. By that I mean limited editions, signed and numbered and sold either in museums, galleries or directly from the artist.
A White Winter As Seen By Artists Martin And Muñoz
In honor of a White Christmas, which I am not experiencing today in Southern California, I'm sharing with you the collaborative artworks of artists Walter Martin and Paloma Muñoz from their Traveler Series. Snowglobes and C-prints of snowglobes whose narratives at first appear charming, and then upon closer inspection are quite a bit twisted.
Walter Martin & Paloma Munoz: Wonderfully Wicked Winter Wonderland
Cerealart is proud to present an exhibition of photographs by Walter Martin and Paloma Munoz,
November 16, 2007 - January 25, 2008.
Like fairy tales or dreams Walter Martin and Paloma Munoz construct trancelike, metaphorical panoramic photographs and snow globes. The collaborative team, which have been working together since 1993, draw from art historical references ranging from Goya and Persian miniatures to literary references from William Blake to Zadie Smith.
