Lightbodies by Kilu. Limited Edition Lamps With Male and Female Human Forms.

The Lightbodies are life-sized human shapes made by artist Kilu. Male and female human forms become functional sculptures when their heads conceal vibrantly colored lightbulbs surrounded by a shade.

The Geco Lamp Blends the Distinction Between a Table, Wall & Floor Lamp.

Designed by Fabio De Silva and Jaime Lozoya, Geco is a new way of thinking about light: it's the height of versatility. Seven LED heads are mounted on two ribbons of flexible steel, fixed to "articulated" bases to "move" and create a curving shape. Geco adapts itself to every situation and brings light where, how and when you wish. Light only, no shadow: the light is not coming from only one source but it's wrapping the objects. They are lit in a complete and uniform way.

"For this innovative design we finally exploited new technologies: we were not content with a conventional use of new technologies. We endeavoured to realise a project of innovation. Geco is, actually, a turning-point in the conceiving process of a lamp: no more distinction among table, floor or wall lamp but just one only object to meet all requirements."

Geco is an actual step to energy saving. Each LED-head uses up 1.4W for a total of 9.8W for an unbelievable light output: 67 lumen per Watt (6 times a normal incandescent bulb). Geco uses the newest, US-born top-efficiency LED-heads: 5000K and 75 lumen (minimum guaranteed). Geco exploits all the qualities of LED technology made in the USA.

Lumina is aware of light technology's fast and continuous evolution, so they made it possible for you to replace each individual LED-head. In fact, if designed in the future, Lumina will offer LED-heads that are more efficient for lighting and energy saving. You will always have the opportunity to update Geco with the newest technologies available.

Lumina presents Geco in 3 finishes: white, black and graphite and has versions compatibile for Europe, The United States and Japan.

Swarovski Amplify - 6 New Glowing Lanterns By Yves Behar's Fuse Project.

The AMPLIFY chandelier’s aim is to put the Swarovski crystal effect into the hands of more people through the simple construction, easily accessible light source and sustainable materials.

Designer Yves Behar and his Fuse Project designed 6 different shaped lamps, each one carefully crafted to maximize refractions on the inner surfaces. This effect can be seen on the faceted shade material, thus emulating the cut and reflective nature of the crystal inside. Each chandelier becomes its own large glowing crystal.

While the Fuse Project's previous large scale lighting sculptures have showcased the crystal in a grand scale, with this latest project they wanted to bring the notion of accessibility and sustainability to crystal lighting.

Traditional chandeliers are made of numerous lights and crystals, they wanted to change this equation: 1 crystal + 1 low energy LED light + a faceted paper shade = AMPLIFY.

Resulting in multiple beautiful reflections and rainbow color bursts… Just what is expected from crystal, but this time the effect is amplified to get the most out of just one crystal.

AMPLIFY is a beautiful single crystal light, or it can be grouped to create a bigger effect.

Each of the six chandeliers will be available in production from Swarovski in the next year. To continue to amplify the concept of accessible crystal, each of the six unique lantern shapes are housed in a flat package that echoes the shape of the chandelier it contains:

The packaging graphics are simple and illustrative to reflect the different shade shapes and components contained inside.

An Origami Artist & Aqua Creations Introduce Molecules, A Lamp Collection

Recently unveiled at Milan Design Week was this new collection of lamps. Molecules is a comprehensive lighting collection based on the origami art of Ilan Garibi and designed in collaboration with industrial designer Ofir Zucker and Albi Serafty of Aqua Creations*.

The traditional Japanese art of paper folding begins with a blank sheet of paper which is folded and sculpted by hand into tessellations of individual molecules, with no cuts. The paper used for the origami lamp shades perfectly diffuses the light and easily resists the folding.

A complement and contrast at the same time are the superior wood structures which derive their shape by digital wood carving. the on/off switch is seamlessly integrated into the wood neck:

and the base has a subtle convex curve to accommodate the cord:

The lamps are powered by digitally dimmable LEDs, operated and controlled by touch. In Aqua's tradition, natural materials and artisanal manufacturing interact with technology; the result is an elegant and luxurious lighting collection.

*Aqua Creations Lighting & Furniture Atelier was founded in 1994 by designer-artist Ayala Serfaty and photographer Albi Serfaty.
*Ilan Garibi is represented by Talents Design in Tel Aviv.
