Wrap Your Loved One Around Your Finger. Literally. Contura Rings by Thomas Geison.
Jewelry designer Thomas Giesen has been creating and producing his own jewellery collections in his own workshop for 20 years.
With several beautifully crafted pieces to his credit, it's his Contura rings that fascinate me. He developed the idea of crafting luxury rings from a human profile in 1998 and it took him a few years to develop the technique to get it precisely right. The final result is a very unique and personal Red Dot Design Award-winning piece of jewelry.
The Contura Rings can be crafted from yellow, white, rose or black gold, silver, titanium, platinum or stainless steel. Available in 8,10,12 and 14mm widths, the rings are suited to any gender or age.
And many options are available. Diamonds, pearls and other gemstones may be added in a variety of styles (see below):

Unearthly Commitment: Out Of This World Wedding Rings Made of Gold That Went To Space.
50 sets of rings known as SWR-50th Anniversary Collection were inspired by the 50th anniversary of first human space flight which took place on April 12, 1961. The collection will be created in cooperation with jewelry designers from all over the world.
On May 20, 7:24 (MDT) the first set of space wedding rings were sent in space in a suborbital sounding rocket in New Mexico, USA. The flight went smoothly and the professionally secured package containing one set of wedding rings and some gold reached the space and came to Earth sound and safe.

The first 10 sets of rings available now will be made from the gold that was flown in space in the same capsule as the first Space Wedding Rings SWR-001.
Each set of Space Wedding Rings will be assigned a unique serial number and engraved with the SpaceWed logo. The rings will be sold in custom designed, space-themed packaging and will include a Certificate of Space Flight, as well as documentation of the rocket launch.
From the beginning of June you will be able to place an ORDER for the RINGS AVAILABLE NOW or PRE-ORDER the rings which will go in space in the next flight by the end of 2011.

Cable Tie Jewelry By Ambre France.
Jewelry designer Ambre France has several unusual collections of jewelry. One of my favorite is her Cable Ties Collection in which she has turned the utilitarian device into rings, bracelets and earrings- even rings set with diamonds.
Rings:
Bracelets:
Earrings:
a Eur cable tie version of the ring:
Set with diamonds:
Available in sterling silver, silver plate, gold or gold-plate, the pieces look just like actual cable ties and in the case of an engagement or wedding ring, signify the everlasting (since we all know cable ties in reality can only be removed by cutting them).
In her limited edition "Plan B Kit" the cable tie engagement/ wedding ring comes in 18K (18ct) yellow gold, complete with a pair of gold plated tin snips.
Platinum and 9ct gold versions are also available.
In her own words:
The inspiration for my work is drawn from a variety of sources. I tend to reflect on intangible or conceptual aspects of the world and translate these into pieces of work. Primarily, I enjoy the process of subverting a range of materials that then become tools in which to highlight my artistic concepts. This, at present has manifested itself into the realm of jewellery. You can order directly from her site where her pieces are made to order and available in either sterling silver, gold-plate, sterling silver or all gold.
Giving the audience an option to interact with the piece and ‘make it their own’ has also played an integral part in the relationship I have with the pieces. They are no longer completely mine and I enjoy the interaction the work has with each new audience.
My aim is to create work that in many ways makes us look at our surroundings and the objects that inhabit it, and then look again. The fascination I have developed between playing around with the conventional meanings of certain objects and our relationship with them is a constant driving force behind my work.
Or you can buy her sterling silver cable tie rings and bracelets online here at Jewel Thief

Bandages For The Heart. And Finger. Alyssa Dee Kraus' Unusual Jewelry.
Thanks to my hip friends over at NOTCOT, I can share with you some very unusual jewelry designed by Alyssa dee Kraus. Below are her "Bandages For The Heart". Made in 18k yellow gold or sterling silver, each has a genuine deep red garnet on the backside representing a drop of blood.
A portion of each sale of the "Bandages For The Heart is donated to a charitable cause.
Please click on the text below to enlarge and read more about her concept.
In addition to the bandages, she makes Wedding Band(aid)s in 18k yellow gold and sterling silver. Each is also punctuated with a deep red garnet representing a drop of blood like the bandages.
Very cool, huh?
Apparently I'm not the only one who thinks so, both rings are already sold out.
However, you can still buy the bandages from her site.
In addition to these, her jewelry designs are both unusual and stunning.
