Karen Beauchamp's New Wallpaper Collection For Swarovski Elements

I've written a few posts on the many items made with Swarovski crystals, including two previous wallpaper designs embellished with the Austrian crystals; Maya Romanoff and Joanna Basford's designs (which you can see here).

Now, Swarovski Elements has released a collection conceived by British wallpaper designer Karen Beauchamp, who has designed for Cole & Sons as well as Miller & Harris wallpapers, to name a few. These sparkly new wallpapers take interior design to the next level using state-of-the-art technology. Eleven creations were designed using rich colors like royal blue, eggplant and burgundy intertwined with classic designs like damask, paisley and stripes, all topped off with a dash of Swarovski Elements.

Spam E-Mail Wallpaper! Junk Mail Becomes Home Decor With Spamghetto.

You know those god-awful spam advertisements you receive in your inbox promising a greater sex life, a larger penis or wealth beyond your wildest dreams? Well, finally someone has taken those and put them to good design use.

Italy based design studio, ToDo, has brilliantly turned that e-mail spam into purchasable and customizable wallpaper or wall coverings under the name "Spamghetto".

The result is a print-on-demand, “green” FSC-certified, non-woven wall covering has won international recognition with a Silver Award at the 2010 European Design Awards.

The process is just as fascinating as the product itself: ToDo created a generative software that feeds on spam’s enticing claims, creating mesmerizing, subtly offbeat digital patterns in which one striking offer leads to the other in a compelling, unique design.

You can choose between various styles according to your taste, with thin or chunky strands forming different patterns.

If you want a custom version, provide them with your room's dimensions and using their generative software, they can produce a design that wraps and folds around all the objects that sit on the on the wall's surface.

New Artist Wallpapers From Rollout; Bollywood on Acid & Pantone!

I did a post awhile ago on Vancouver's Rollout, a creative design company that produces custom wallpaper as well as a series of artist designed wallpapers.

Their latest custom designs include two fabulous patterns for Mango Shiva, a contemporary Indian restaurant in Calgary.

When Rollout sat down with Kam Dhillon over some mango lhassi and asked what he was looking for in his custom wallpapers, he thought a moment and said "The Beatles go to Bollywood on an Acid Trip". They smiled and said: "No problem Kam. No problem at all."

The project required 1000 sq/ft of wallpaper for the Girls & Boys Restroom walls and ceilings. The overall aesthetic of the main room was too elegant and restrained but Mr. Dhillon wanted the bathrooms to be lush with vibrant colour and imagery.

I think they achieved it, see for yourself:

The latest additions to their artist designed series (and available for purchase) are the following three designs, including one that's as close to Pantone wallpaper as I can find, thus far:

Rollout's Custom & Artist Series Wallpapers

ROLLOUT is a creative studio that designs and digitally prints custom wallpapers by the square foot. They recruit community-based artists, photographers, industrial designers and cutting edge graphic artists/designers to create amazingly original wall coverings, many seen in hip stores and offices like Worth clothing and Microsoft's Zune.

As described on their site:
ROLLOUT was born out of the need for graphic expression in the interior design industry. Gone are the days of slick minimalism. We embrace texture, expression, emotion and color, filling the gaping hole left by modernism.
Below are some of their custom designs:

In addition to designing custom wallpapers, they have "stock" designer and artist papers that you can choose from. They can print these papers to fit your space. Please contact them for a quote.

Their premium, latex-based inkjet wallcoverings come in 36’’ wide rolls that they digitally print to any square footage. This allows ROLLOUT to minimize waste – and your costs. ROLLOUT delivers ready-to-hang wallpaper, developed to your precise specifications, to your project site.

Now, it's true, with wall coverings like these it's very difficult to hang art on the walls. But then again, with wall coverings like these, who needs art?
