Since I first introduced you to United Nude's architecturally inspired shoes back in March of 2009, then more of their shoes and their collaboration with fashion designer Iris van Herpen, the company continues to expand their product line.

Sneaker Lovers Can Get Their Kicks With These Cool Items

Now, you can own a part of advertising history.
Freedom Of Creation (FOC) designers, Janne Kyttanen and Mads Thomsen, produced this Laser Sintered creation for the international ad agency Amsterdam Worldwide for its client Onitsuka Tiger ‘ASICS’ premium heritage brand and the ad campaign called Electric Tigerland. (By the way, the recent Tansu Shoe for Onitsuka Tiger by Amsterdam Worldwide won a Gold Lion at the 2010 Cannes Advertising Festival for design)

The meter-long shoe called the ‘Electric Light Shoe’ was central to the global Electric Tiger Land campaign for 2008. The 70 cm and 40 cm sized versions were created for Onitsuka Tiger stores world-wide and are now available for purchase.

Several additional designs were produced by FOC to support the campaign such as USB sticks, keyholders, POS material, shoe displays etc. and now you can buy some of these items.

The one meter long ‘city in a sneaker’ was inspired by and pays homage to the Toyko cityscape and provided a platform to tell more stories about the brand to engage the target audience.

The sculpture was used in POS, online and television advertising and received numerous awards and now is your chance to own one.

Two Fashion Forces Fuse: Iris van Herpen x United Nude

I was both surprised and excited when I received the following press release, given that I'd blogged about both these fashion designers/companies separately and had no idea they'd ever collaborate. Luckily for me (and you) coutourier Iris van Herpen and architectural shoe company United Nude joined forces to release a collaborative pair of wild high-heeled shoes that does justice to both their talents and styles.

The press release:

United Nude, an iconic brand at the intersection between design and fashion is open-minded towards creative talent. After two successful collaborations with Dutch fashion designer Antoine Peters, United Nude and Dutch fashion designer Iris van Herpen joined forces to create shoes for van Herpen’s Autumn Winter 2010 collection.

The shoes were presented in her catwalk show during London fashion week and the collaboration shall soon be available as a limited edition item, only available at the world’s most exclusive retailers and at the United Nude flagship and concept stores in Amsterdam, New York, Shanghai and Vienna at a retail price of $1,295 USD (EURO 1,000)

The Iris van Herpen X United Nude product is a glamorous ankle bootie with smooth round lines and golden leather detailing on the front and back of the shoe, with three-dimensional characteristics. Transparency, reflections and movements create the effect of visual estrangement.

The construction of the shoe is so complicated and precise that each pair is 100% hand-made with the highest grade Italian kid leather available.

Therefore, the production of this unique product has been kept to the very low number of 240 limited edition pairs worldwide of which 168 are in black with gold and 72 in ivory with gold.

United Nude’s Creative Director Rem D Koolhaas reflected on the collaboration by saying: “I was introduced to Iris after I had admired her work. I offered to make shoes for her, as I know that for fashion designers shoes always come as an afterthought and most fashion designers don’t have the resources to get it all done on time. I think the result of our work together is that of a pure and successful collaboration as her identity and our expertise and craftsmanship are joined in this marvelous product”.

United Nude Releases New Spring Summer Collection Of Amazing Shoes

If you've been reading this blog for awhile, you may recall my first post about United Nude's unusual inspired shoes). Deriving influences from architecture, art and industrialism, United Nude has continued their distinct vision and direction for their 2010 Spring Summer collection.

Since my last in depth post, they've come a long way with their shoes... refined styles, added more and different color combinations. They even changed the name of their 'Porn' shoe to the Loop.

In addition to introducing new colors of their previous styles, they've added some fabulous new styles; The Cup, The Frame, The Label Shoe (their second collaboration with Dutch fashion designer Antoine Peters), The Graffiti Shoe (an embroidered pump) and The Lo Res shoe (an origami-esque angular shoe).

The Lo Res Pump:

Angular planes make up the exterior of the Lo Res pump, part of a new semi-automatic design method by United Nude. An object is digitally scanned into a 3D computer model and regenerated into various resolutions.

The Label Shoe
A second collaboration with Dutch fashion designer Antoine Peters:

The Label Shoe is a play on the industry’s excessive use of labels forming the style’s distinctive silhouette.

The Ultra Loop
UNITED NUDE’s highly successful Spring Summer style LOOP is a concept where a single foot-bed penetrates a sexy loop creating a remarkable and stylish shoe.

With the use of ultra strong carbon fiber, the shoe is allowed to reach new heights in the form of the ULTRA LOOP; creating an even more feminine silhouette and a towering 130 millimeter heel height.

The Cup
The CUP is designed to literally “cup” the heel of the wearer with a sculptured heel also serving as the back-piece, giving the style not only the desired comfort but also elegance and classic appeal.

The CUP is available in a range of styles from pump to sandal with attention- grabbing color combinations. The heel height on the high CUP styles is 4.5":

And the heel height for the mid CUP styles is 2.7":

The Frame Shoe
The FRAME is a remarkable achievement and is also a tribute to the foundation on which the UNITED NUDE brand was established.

The FRAME unhinges the common perception of what a high-heeled shoe should be with the construction of the heel being far more centered on the foot-bed while encasing the foot with straps, forming a wearable work of art:

The Graffiti Pump
The GRAFFITI uses the brand’s name in a 3D embroidered pattern decorating the shoe as its canvas:

UNITED NUDE’S exceptional design has now led to the expansion of the brand with the opening of the first flagship store in Amsterdam’s city centre. A second flagship store is set to open in the international fashion capital of New York City in early 2010 followed soon thereafter by a third flagship store in Shanghai.
